This is probably old news to many, but recently, after a month of summertime forest driving, my car was attacked by bugs. Not even repeated rain storms could get them off. According to many car forums, using a moist dryer sheet is the trick to getting the stuck on messes cleaned up. I don't know the chemistry, but it actually worked! It foams up a little, but by doing it just before a car wash, the surface looks pretty clean.
